Mother Goose Storytimes
Open up your child's imagination with stories from our picture book collection. Children not yet ready to read will learn the sounds and rhythms of language. School age children already reading will enjoy listening to new and classic stories brought to life by our librarians with special storytelling skills.

Nursery Rhyme Time
Children learn the building blocks of language through sound and repetition. Parents, build your nursery rhyme repertoire as you join in and sing along with your little one. Musician and storyteller Dara Linthwaite performs on guitar and reads stories to the children.

Books and Elements of Art: Repetition and Rhythm
Join art therapist, Sharon Burns, as she reads “There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” by Simms Taback. Mrs. Burns will show how the artist uses repetition in his art throughout the book. The children will create a clothing collage to reinforce the concept of repetition, as the author had.

Paul Klee Storytime and Art Workshop
Join arts educator Karyn Mannix who will read the children a story about the Swiss painter, Paul Klee. Following storytime, she will guide them through the art project “Fish on a Stick”.

Storytelling and Art: A Japanese Tale
Experience the creativity of interactive storytelling! Join local art educator, Andi Pisacano, as she tells the story of “The Robe of Feathers”. Children will retell the story with costumes and then make a sumi water color painting.

Movin’, Groovin’ & Readin’ with Mr. Skip
We welcome Mr. Skip back again this summer! He blends just the right amount of old favorites and fresh tunes to keep’em movin’ and groovin’. Fun yes! But…there’s more to Mr. Skip’s performance than wiggles and giggles. Early childhood development skills are a big part of every show as Mr. Skip gently prods the children to use their minds and bodies. He’ll also entertain them with his special storytelling skills.

Garden of my Dreams” Concert
Lee Knight, a professional singer/entertainer, returns again this summer and has set her original music to the works of author, Eric Carle. This will be a wonderful interactive concert for the children featuring all their favorite bugs. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” teaches children the days of the week and “The Grouchy Ladybug” helps tell time with a salsa beat. Meet all the characters in Lee Knight’s newest show!

Celebrate the French impressionist painter Claude Monet with arts educator Karyn Mannix. The workshop will begin with a story about the artist followed by a painting workshop.

Storytelling and Art: A Celtic Tale
Andi Pisacano, a local art educator, will entertain with her special storytelling skills, while she tells the story of the Celtic tale, “The Finger Loch”. The children will learn a series of dance steps with a Celtic rhythm and stencil a paper mache drum with a Celtic theme.

Books and Elements of Art: Balance and Symmetry
In the book “Starry Messenger” by Peter Sis, children will learn the concept of radial balance and symmetry. Art therapist, Sharon Burns, will work with the children to create an abstract radial design, using markers. Radial balance is a circular design with a single center. Shapes or lines radiate from a central point like petals on a daisy, spokes on a wheel, or numbers on a clock. Mrs. Burns will show examples so that the children will understand this concept.

Rainforest Butterfly Program
Steve Fratello, the “butterfly man,” has spent over three years in the world’s remaining tropical rain forests, leading scientific expeditions for major museums. During his one-hour presentation, children will have the opportunity to view his collection of butterflies and learn about tropical rainforest life.
